Joe the Barbarian #1 was wonderful, only cost $1, & only sold 25K copies. If you didn’t buy it, I hate you.
It looks like writer Grant Morrison has another miniseries going to Hollywood.
Joe the Barbarian is a series I’ve been following, about Joe, a diabetic kid who is suddenly drawn into a fantasy world where his toys and pet rat are alive and waging a war against King Death. He is the subject of an age-old prophesy as the “Dying Boy”; the fantasy world’s foretold savior. Joe is simultaneously in the real world as well, going into what seems like diabetic shock and you’re never quite sure if it’s all just delusions brought on by dangerously low blood sugar, or if they’re really happening.
The whole series is 8 issues, which is currently on issue 6, and takes place over the course of what is actually only an afternoon, but several days to Joe and his comrades. It’s being drawn by the incredibly talented Sean Gordon Murphy.

It’s way too muted! Where’s the mercurial psychadelic ambience of the colors? That’s sort of central to Flex’s themes… You can’t make it look like a movie!
