1. I’m pretty sure my #1 favorite subject for fanart is Chris Haley. *Coming in 2015- The Chris Haley Almost Making Out With Comic Icons Sketchbook.
2. Drawing on the bolt bus is the worst.
Going back to the first topic- is there anyone who loves Superman like Chris Haley loves Superman? I doubt it. Also, I’m glad his girlfriend is into all of these weird little drawings of him.
Dreams continue to come true.
I cannot wait to buy that sketchbook in 2015.
For my next break: Superman. Gonna see it tonight. SO EXCITED.
Also, I’ve been doing all of my line work in Paint Tool Sai lately so it’s been interesting doing these last couple of break drawings in Photoshop again. Feels so different.
Erica just keeps drawing things I love to look and then have to convince her to make prints of so I can stare at them when the internet is no more.
SUBATOMIC PARTY GIRLS IS OUT TOMORROW! Before their big launch every magazine in the country (and several from outside of the country) has been trying to get the girls to do a photo spread and interview. It’s been CRAY. There’s even a sneak preview of Beryllium Steel’s historic launch to the moon over at CBR!!
And there’s still time to preorder the first digital issue HERE (and it’s a digital comic so if you miss the preorder, you can just buy it whenever).
P.S. I need to tell you guys that two of those magazine cover blurbs are 100% lifted from Cosmo because I couldn’t think of anything worse than what already existed. “12 NEW MEN SKILLS” and “BUTT FACIAL”. I’m not even joking. I’m 95% certain that butt facial just means putting skin care products on your butt and I’m not sure why it needs a headlining article because I’m pretty sure that most butts have skin on them. Also, wtf are men skills?
Do you like comics?
If so, you should check this out.
Drawin’ on the bus. Drawin’ on the bus. If there’s anything harder than trying to draw on the bus, it’s trying to color on the bus. As you can see, I didn’t really try that hard when I was coloring it in, but I didn’t want to draw just an outline of The Enthusiast’s shirt design.
This was a twitter request from Curt Franklin, who holds 1/2 of the title for best looking guy in comics.
The binder of prints on my table is mostly pretty normal- illustrations from books, fanart, some unrelated personal work. Right at the back though, without warning, is a batch of male superhero pinups. This elicits a variety of responses ranging from mild arousal to giggling to turning the pages quickly because you don’t want to turn gay.
This conversation is with someone closer to that third variety of viewer. Let’s call him “Rod”. Rod has just reached those last few prints and is flipping through them looking very serious.
He then looks up at me.
Rod- Why would you do this?
Erica- I don’t see how these are any different from what every other artist has for sale.
Rod- But these are men.
Erica- I’m not into chicks.
And then I watched as a lightbulb slowly came on. We didn’t say anything else to each other but I’d like to think that there is a little more understanding now. Maybe one more person who understands that just because someone else has something nice that isn’t meant for you, your world isn’t going to explode.
Then again, there’s always these people: LINK
Doofyass sketch of a tokusatsu-style Dell Comics Dracula.
I don’t know either.
Fantastic! I was actually dreaming of an Universal Monster themed Kamen Rider the other day. #joeisgreatiswhatiamsaying
OH MY GOD THIS IS LIKE TWO THINGS I LOVE IN ONE BECAUSE IT’S DELL DRACULA + TOKUSATSU!
IT’S THREE THINGS I LOVE IN ONE BECAUSE IT’S MONSTERS + SUPERHEROES + TOKUSATSU!!!
